first day of school

When Kolby woke up, I asked him if he knew what was happening today and he did! He was a big boy - ate breakfast all by himself, dressed himself, and was super excited when I said it was time to go.

Parking at school is very limited, so we had to drive around the block a few times.  Every time we passed the school, Kolby would say, "You passed my school." He was even more freaked out because "It's my first day of school" and he didn't want to be late.  Luckily Grandpa Leroy was with us and volunteered to "man" the car while I took Kolby in.

There were many anxious students (and parents) inside and outside the classroom.  But just like Kolby's first day at the sitter, he couldn't wait to start something new.  He saw some of his classmates crying and was only bothered by the fact that he couldn't help them.  Mrs. Kelli welcomed him and had to remind him to tell Mommy "bye," then he quickly set off to find his friend Dylan.

A mere two hours later, I returned to pick him up.  He was sitting patiently on the rug and when he saw me in the doorway, he put on a huge smile, got up to hug Miss Renee and told her thank you for a good day...then finally I got my hug.  Mrs. Kelli said he had a really good day and even hugged someone else while waiting in line for the bathroom.  Anyway, Kolby said that he had so much fun, but couldn't tell me what he did...as long as he is adjusting...that's the main thing right now.  He even thought he did so well that he should get a Lego as a reward for "being a good boy" - seriously?  He learns too quickly...  Good luck teachers!
